Police report Hugh McDaniel of Takoma Park arrested for the Silver Springs National Bank robbery. The lone thief fled toward Washington after taking about $2,200, dropping $700 and firing as employees pursued him. a bystander, Helen Hobbs, was grazed by a bullet.

New York stock market staged a notable comeback from yesterday's sharp decline as buyers stepped in. Prices rose 2 to 12 points in a brisk session with closing strength and about 1,500,000 shares traded. A Berryville Virginia man driving a Hupmobile lost control on The Viata in Winchester yesterday afternoon. The car bucked and collided with a parked Sullivan auto on The Plaza then climbed over and damaged the Sullivan car. Officers took him to police headquarters where he paid 24 dollars for repairs.
Six Berkley residents died when a car plunged 75 feet from a Tormey bluff after the driver failed to see a sharp turn due to glare from an oncoming vehicle. The deceased include Edward B Hussey III Mrs Minna Griffin Viola Griffin Margaret Newman operating a Berkeley boarding house Ida Newman Pearle Clark. Edward H and Laurence Grim plan to visit their sister in Prentytown West Virginia.
In Washington on October 27 Herbert Hoover said if the Republican party returns to power he would call an extra session of Congress to secure farm relief if adequate legislation is not enacted at the coming session. He called agricultural relief the most urgent economic problem and said he would avoid letting the matter drift into a later year. If needed he would convene an early session to ensure constructive action.
Leathers was arrested after being caught taking fruit from street stands. In police court Justice Weems ordered him to leave town by a set hour with a warning of a stiff road sentence if he returned. He left town after a month of loitering and sleeping at police headquarters turning on his benefactors when confronted.
A Wabash Railroad passenger train carrying Wisconsin University football fans collided with a freight train at Helmar Indiana. Several passengers sustained minor injuries while no fatalities were reported.
New York October 26 Gov Alfred K Smith spent the day preparing for a major campaign swing into Pennsylvania where the Democrats seek votes in the Keystone State. He planned a Philadelphia address his only personal appeal to voters there and traveled from New York to Camden NJ then via motor train to Philadelphia. Smith appeared in good spirits after two days of campaigning in New England and was cheered at each stop.

Lieutenant Charles Edward Bauch survivor of the Shenandoah is the oldest lighter than air man in service. Lieutenant Thomas Settle of Washington helped design the navy airships.
R A Smith a traveling salesman for Delaware Chair Company phoned police to locate a brief case left on the running board of his car. He visited a hotel, then headed toward Washington DC, recalling later that the case had fallen off on the road. The papers inside are of no value to others.
