Thomas Bushrod Hammond, born July 27 1843 at Shannon Hill Jefferson County Virginia, died in Los Angeles October 8 at age 80. He served in the Confederate Army and bore dispatches to General Lee. he left two sisters and several relatives, and his sister Mrs Harriet M Hammond wrote of his devout faith. Burial will be private in Los Angeles near loving friends. a noted humanitarian legacy funds needy women and men.
