Schoolgirl Killed in Valley Pike Accident Near Stephens City
Leota Miller 11, daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Miller, was instantly killed when struck by a car driven by J H Johnson on the Valley pike just north of Stephens City. Johnson, en route from Pittsburgh to Lexington Va, stopped and assisted until taken to Winchester Memorial Hospital. Eye witnesses say Leota stepped from Miss Alice Funk’s car and failed to notice an oncoming Johnson auto. Johnson was released after authorities ruled the accident unavoidable. Funeral services planned at Needmore Church.
