A large Winchester crowd praised the Empire Theater production of The Circle. The cast led by Charlotte Walker and Norman Hackett delivered a gripping three act drama of love versus duty with witty and romantic elements.
A Lehigh Valley Railroad rear-end collision near Ox Bow Curve three miles north of Maychunk killed trainman William H. Price of Pittston and injured engineer John Coyle of Lehighton. The wreck blocked the line until 7 a.m. today with Price burned to death in the caboose.
Public notices urge voters to attend Congressman Harrison addresses at Midtown tomorrow night at 8 and in Stephens City next Tuesday night October 24. The Stephens City date is corrected from an earlier Stephenson announcement and applies to all county voters in the southern region.
Emerson R. Brown son of Mr and Mrs Rh Brown and Eva Lee Shade daughter of Mr and Mrs Martin Shade, both of this city, were married at 7 De eek Tadervenine at the United Brethren Church in Winchester by the Rev George W Stover. They will make their home here.

Grace Luthéran Church of this city will be represented at the biennial convention of the United Lutheran Church in America now in session at Buffalo New York by Thomas J Cooper who expects to leave tomorrow for that city. The convention is described as the most important meeting of the United Lutheran Church and Mr Cooper will attend as a visitor.
A meeting of the R. M. of A. supper group convened in Middletown hall on the date in question. Attendees reported the event and pledges, with preparations and outcome noted in brief in this item.
John J. Allemong pleaded guilty before Judge Whiting in Corporation Court to forging the name of John J. Harter on a check cashed at Brill and Ritter where he bought shoes. He received ten months on the state roads. Indictments were returned against Clarence Rinker and Edward Brill for home burglary and theft, with Rinker sent to the state reformatory after a hearing and Brill held for the grand jury. An indictment was also returned against George Carter for taking money from Motel Evans’ safe. trial date not set. A civil verdict favored the defendants in a baggage loss suit against J. A. Towns for about $150. The grand jury and fraygd jury lists are noted.
Tax collector R. B. Smith announces locations and times for tax collection across multiple towns from Oct 30 to Nov 25, with a 5 percent penalty after Dec 1, 1922. Dec 1 deadline triggers 10 percent penalty. Frederick County treasurer.

The Blue Ridge Hunt Club will hold a fall racing meet October 28 at the Annfield farm of Mr. and Mrs. William Bell Watkins between Berryville and Millwood. Three races are filled with six plus entries, featuring a three mile steeplechase for the Annfield cup. Local and visiting entrants, including several from Waugh Glasscock and Turner stables, will run under color-coded saddles observed by crowd from a designed viewing knoll.

About 750 000 Italian honey bees across 16 hives owned by H F Byrd were destroyed at Byrd Orchard Farm by sulfur fumes. Three apple pickers, Charles Mumaw A H Yankey and Leonard Runilon, are jailed on larceny charges with police seeking additional suspects. Sheriff Pannett plans hearings as an inspection to separate sulfur caused losses vs other deaths is conducted.
Winchester High School faces Martinsburg High School at the fairgrounds on Saturday at 3 pm in the league opener. Winchester seeks to defend its defending football championship while Martinsburg recently beat Frederick 12 to 0 and Winchester defeated Staunton 12 to 0. The match promises a close, hard fought contest.
