On a Colleton county tenant farm in Walterboro South Carolina a man and a woman died and the woman's husband was gravely injured after a foreclosure eviction dispute. W W Cone killed Mrs Nettles and her husband, the Nettles’ son killed Cone after a struggle, and Bernard Cone was wounded and jailed.
Matt S. Daugherty brother of former Attorney General Harry M. Daugherty faces 58 counts at Washington Court House Ohio over the failure of an Ohio state bank. Proceedings stem from alleged mismanagement and financial improprieties connected to the bank collapse.

Mrs. Mary Ethel Douglas of Wardensville West Virginia died yesterday afternoon at Winchester Memorial Hospital about an hour after admission. Her infant son also died. She leaves husband M S Douglas and two young children. Bodies to Wardensville tomorrow for 3 PM funeral at Wardensville cemetery.
The District Nurse Association sponsors a free chest clinic in rooms adjoining the county clerk's office on Monday October 20. Dr. C. W. Scott of the State Board of Health will lead with district nurses assisting. Hours are 9:30 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm. Children under 15 will not be examined. those over 15 with tuberculosis symptoms are urged to attend.
In Chicago police court James Pence forfeited $15 for failure to appear on speeding charges. Harry Newcomb paid $12 for drunkenness while “Sis” Taylor was fined $25 after a car crash with Walker Bond. Edward Carter awaits a hearing for driving under the influence, requesting more time for witnesses. Also listed are opening prices for corn oats and wheat in Chicago markets.
Survey reports a 2.3 percent drop in U.S. farms over the decade, totaling 6,207,877. Notable losses hit New England at 19.7 percent, while Arizona shows a 32.9 percent gain. Texas leads with 69,974 additional farms, and Georgia suffers the largest numerical decline.
Dodd Super-Service Stations reorganize under Virginia law with a $50,000 capitalization and the name Dodd Super-Service Stations Incorporated. Founders include C. D. Dodd and C. T. Berryville Virginia announces an open air prayer service on October 20 at 2 30 PM on the Court House lawn. Clarke county ministers will pray for an end to the severe summer drought and invites all residents and nearby communities to attend. Merchants are asked to close shops to allow full participation.
