Capt. Frederick L. Riefkohl commanded the Vincennes sunk in the Solomons battle August 7 9. His wife Louisa Riley and her mother reside on West Piccadilly Street. Riefkohl a 1911 Annapolis graduate from Maunabo Puerto Rico survived along with Capt William G. Greenman of the Astoria. Capt Samuel N. Moore of the Quincy was lost. Riefkohl has visited Winchester with his wife.
