DETROIT, Oct. 12. Two duck hunters found the body of Common Pleas Judge Robert E. Sage who was sought for murder in the Nadell deaths. Sage, a customer of a tailoring company for six years, faced a murder warrant issued Oct 1. Police said he obtained the gun used in the shooting from a friend's room about four hours before the tragedy. Chief Wencel said Sage arranged meetings with three associates to do some shooting. Matrices De Smilay, an attorney, was wounded in the shooting fray.
New York reports that CBS short wave listenings claimed Britain sought unofficial information on German terms for peace. The British were said to avoid discussing peace, with Stockholm Zurich and Madrid cited as places where initiative occurred. The Associated Press had no confirmation of such advances.
Delegates at the 12th biennial United Lutheran Church of America convention in Omaha seek a statement from Rev. The load of logs toppled into a car driven by John Hershberger 27 of Winchester Virginia who was transporting apples to City. Police have not determined the cause.
More than 250 attendees filled the Sarah Zane Fire Hall as the GOP launched its presidential and congressional campaigns in Winchester and Frederick County. Speakers included Clarence Ahalt W. C. Nazi warplanes raided London in daylight for a fourth day with attacks across Kent and Sussex. A Liverpool hotel was heavily bombed, with several staff and guests buried under rubble but some rescued. The British and German artillery traded long range shells across the Channel amid continuing air battles.
HAGERSTOWN Md Oct 12 Raleigh A Poffenberger 76 a former county official and farmer of Keedysville was found dead last midnight by two farm hands. Sheriff Baker said the injuries indicate murder with a 14 inch blood stained wrench at the scene. A check and considerable money were found in his pocket suggesting robbery. Autopsy arranged at Washington County Hospital. Suspect noted by sheriff as investigation continues.
