West Virginia Man Jailed After Crash Near Clearbrook
A 33 year old West Virginia man, Robert Newlin of Summit Point, was jailed on driving drunk hit and run no registration and no operator’s license after a early Sunday crash near Clearbrook. His truck struck a parked car damaged a house foundation and then hit the same car again before fleeing. He was captured nearby and faces a October 24 hearing in Frederick County. The incident caused property damage and minor injuries in other local crashes over the weekend.

Conrad Sirbaugh of 108 E Piccadilly St. was hospitalized after being accidentally shot at the Evergreen Gun Club southwest of Mt. Falls. The .22 bullet hit his right side and lodged in his liver. condition described as satisfactory. Sheriff Rob ert L. DeHaven said shooter James Quigley, 16, of near Alexandria, was aiming at a squirrel when the bullet struck Sirbaugh during a hunting party of eight. Sirbaugh was brought to Memorial Hospital by Jes L. Jones Sr. of Winchester.

In Falls Church Virginia a masked bandit leaned from his car and forced Helen Franklin a 38 year old cashier to hand over about $1100 in cash from the outdoor movie theater’s window. He fired a small revolver and fled in an old auto.

Nixon Postpones Trip to Near East and Africa

Born May 5 1896 he served in World War I and held leadership in Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survives include his widow Bryson Smith three children a sister an aunt and an uncle. Funeral service set for Wednesday at Christ Episcopal Church. No flowers. Body at Kurtz Funeral Home.
