Judge’s hitchhiker verdict makes court mobile moment

Greek Steamer Annoula Sinks With 21 Lost

Winthrop Massachusetts dispatch says the Greek freighter Annoula sank Saturday about 600 miles east of Cape Lookout with 21 crew missing. The Italian steamer Montello rescued the captain and four crew members and pursued to Philadelphia with the survivors.

Kathryn Kelly Named As Buyer Of Kidnap Machine Gun

Government testimony identified Kathryn Kelly as the purchaser of a machine gun used in the Urschel kidnapping. Fort Worth dealer J Klar said Kelly bought the weapon for 250 dollars bearing the weapon’s later serial number. Tulsa Urschel manager E E Kirkpatrick testified he handed Kelly the ransom satchel.

Warren County Boy Buys New Chevy Then Crashes Into Wall

Giles Lockhart, Front Royal, bought a new Chevrolet from Warren Motor Company with zero miles. Six hours later the car was found wrecked after a 380 mile journey implied by 64 mph average. Inspector Bayliss noted 186 yards of braking, a 42 foot rock throw, and speeds near 86 mph before the crash. Both occupants were uninjured.

Ministers Transferred At Roanoke Conference Close

The 149th Baltimore Conference at Roanoke announced transfers in the Southern Methodist Church. Rev. Hubert Sydenstricker moves to Braddock Street Church Roanoke to succeed E A Lambert, with Lambert taking Sydenstricker’s Trinity Roanoke post. Dr E L Woolf becomes presiding elder of the Winchester district and moves to Harrisonburg. Dr Woolf is a Fauquier native with ties to Randolph-Macon and Vanderbilt. Cockerell named presiding elder of Rockingham district. Meetings set for next Sunday with future Baltimore sesquicentennial events noted.
