The One Hundred Forty-Eighth Annual Baltimore Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church South adjourned after approving an 85 000 budget, down 17 000 from last year. 889 new members were added, with many from evangelistic meetings and letters from other churches. Rev Forney Hutchinson to take Mount Vernon Church Washington D C. Dr W Shelton reassigned to North Georgia conference.

The conference approved allocations for 1932-33 with Board of Missions at 20 000 and Christian Educ'n at 15 000. Other line items include Church Extension 3 000, Finances 32 500, Insurance 3 500, Baltimore Southern Methodist Magazine 8 000, Lay Activities 500, and Conference Expenses 1 500. The Christian Education budget suffered a 6 175 cut while missions and magazine funds remained unchanged. Recommendations called for student work funding at Virginia Tech Blacksburg Virginia Military Institute Lexington and State Teachers' College Harrisonburg.

Handley Cadet Band Wins First Prize at Elkins Forest Festival
Handley High School Cadet Band returned from the Forest Festival in Elkins West Virginia with first prize in a seven-band contest. Prof. W H McIlwee organized and directed the band which has a history of multiple prizes in similar events. Despite snow marred start, crowds enjoyed the parade queen's procession and ongoing contests as autumn colors brightened the mountain valley drive from Winchester.

Mrs Reynolds Not Worrying About Wills
Cincinnati dispatch reports Mrs Libby Holman Reynolds saying she is not worried about wills after New York filed the August 1931 will of her husband Reynolds. The will legates his estate to relatives with a $50 000 bequest to Albert Walker, a friend. Walker is indicted for murder in North Carolina in connection with Reynolds death ruled a self inflicted bullet wound. Mrs Reynolds not named in the will made before her marriage to the tobacco heir.

Aged Colored Farmer Dead At Home In County
Charles Brown an aged colored resident of the Cedar Hill section of Frederick county died yesterday at the home of his son Henry Brown after an illness of about four years. Death was due to paralysis. Surviving are three sons Henry of this county George of Pennsylvania and Albert Brown of Philadelphia. Their mother Mary Brown died some years ago. The deceased was a native of Fauquier county but spent most of his life in Frederick county where he was employed in farm work. Arrangements for the funeral had not been completed.
