Moonshine Raid Nets Forty Gallons In Middletown
Densell M Armel and Holmes Butler both of Middletown were held for the grand jury on liquor prohibition charges after a 2 30 am raid by Sheriff Pannett and Special Deputies James G Smith and Thomas Boyd. Butler surrendered as liquor was unloaded from a car owned by Armel. Orville Swartz was fined for carrying a concealed weapon. Douglas Smallwood was discharged. Armel and Fisher were released pending evidence. The seized liquor was locked up for use as evidence. Sheriff Pannett praised by local residents for the raid.
