Freight Train Wreck Near Boyce Blocks Line
A northbound fast freight from Basic City to Hagerstown derailed half a mile south of Boyce station between 8 and 9 PM. Four cars badly wrecked, one on end, track torn up 150 feet. Apples and lumber spilled as wrecking crews from Shenandoah City cleared the line and traffic resumed early morning. The 55-car train, drawn by two engines, faced a dangerous dip in the track feared by engineers.

Heavy prison sentences were imposed on two men convicted of bribing health inspectors to pass diseased meat. Arthur Plant aged 21, son of a wealthy Brooklyn butcher, received 2 to 5 years. Herman Braumechweig was sentenced to 2 to 212 years in Sing Sing.

Grand Rapids, Oct 4. Police sent letters and telegrams to locate women who corresponded with James Allerton through matrimonial papers.
