Jimmy O Connell Giants outfielder confessed offering 500 to Heinie Sand of the Phillies to throw a game last Saturday. Cozy Dolan coach and other Giants leaders accused. Landis and Heydler end probe, declaring O Connell ineligible for the World Series.
Motorcycle officer Lawrence Guthridge purchases a pure bred German police dog from Shenandoah Kennels owned by Dr Fred W Boland. The sire Fels Von Boll No 340468 descends from Strongheart. Plan to send the dog to Prof Von Buren in Philadelphia for criminal police training when old enough.
Hayfield Virginia October 2 postmaster B F Carter reports a thief entered the office by an unlocked front door and escaped with about 60 dollars in currency from a small box not kept in the safe. This is the first burglary in thirty years at the Hayfield office.
About 300 attendees, one third of the crowd, left the Oklahoma City venue as Senator Robinson urged support for J. C. Walton the deposed governor and Democratic Senate nominee. The remaining audience applauded while Robinson denounced the party platform and administration.
