Fire destroys Alson Coopers North of Green Spring home
The home of Mr and Mrs Alson Cooper about one and a half miles north of Green Spring Frederick county burned early Saturday evening. Neighbors suspect a gas forming heater explosion caused the blaze which engulfed the interior and destroyed a nearby smokehouse. Jewel age 19 of Jewel Ridge West Virginia and Robbie Beavers age 20 of Russell County both convicts charged with killing fellow convict Ralph Clinewell 30 of Roanoke Virginia in Sunnyside near Winchester. Prosecutor Burr P. Harrison will present the case with defense by Harry R. Kern Jr. and J Sloan Kuykendall. The slaying followed an alleged attempted escape from Convict Camp 29 Route 7 near Gainesboro and Jewel and Beavers allegedly said the victim “ratted on us.”
