In Leonardtown Maryland Captain William Thrall of the Maryland Conservation Commission arrested two Virginia oyster men after a dawn running gun battle on the Potomac River. Thrall said his boat the Kent encountered about 15 small power boats scraping for oysters and returned fire when fired upon.
