John W. Gooper was found dead in a stream on Millwood road near Winchester after being missing since Saturday night. Sheriff Pannett and Dr. Stuart investigated. the death is suspected to be a stroke or accident involving a horse near a ford. Surviving relatives include a widow four daughters and two sons. Funeral services are set for Tuesday at 11 at the family home.
The Supreme Court denied Mooney’s attorneys’ plea to review the California court ruling denying a new trial. Mooney, labor leader convicted of murder in the San Francisco preparedness parade case, faces execution unless the President intervenes. For sale notice follows.
London reports all German warships to be handed over under terms of the armistice will be in allied hands by Saturday, a day early. Ships will be divided among the Allies with England receiving the largest share after completed removal from German control.

Washington Nov 18 The Japanese government has named Viscount Giman ambassador to London and M Mattusi ambassador to Paris as delegates to the peace conference according to dispatches reaching the French high commission from Tokyo.

Letters from Shenandoah Valley to relatives describe heavy casualties in October among the One Hundred Sixteenth Infantry. Announcement of the marriage of Katherine Pens eart Wille to William F Ward took place at the United Brethren Church on National avenue with Rev. W H Sampeseil officiating. The bride is daughter of Mr and Mrs L R Mills and the groom son of Mr and Mrs W M Ward. They will reside in Winchester.
Nannie Triplett a member of a well known colored family died Sunday morning at her home 572 North Market Street after a heart disease illness. She is survived by her father William Triplett brothers Clarence and John Triplett three nephews and two nieces. Funeral from Mount Carmel Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Wednesday conducted by Rev W P Fisher and Rev Walker Garter burial in Orrick Cemetery.

Marshall Wileon Hawkins son of Mr and Mrs Henry Hawkins died at their Chambersville home last Thursday after a pneumonia illness in his second year. In addition to his parents he leaves four brothers Landon Roy Benson and Wesley Hawkins and three sisters Irene Glaydy and Virginia Hawkins. The funeral was held Friday afternoon by Rev E W Brubaker and burial was in Mount Hebron Cemetery here.
The Rev. John W. Quinton of the West Virginia diocese served as acting rector during Dr. W. D. Smith’s absence in France.
