Death of J Fred Goshert in Chicago hospital
J Fred Goshert a Winchester native about 45 died in a Chicago hospital yesterday afternoon after illness reported by telegraph. He left Winchester as a youth for Chicago where he worked in Fuller and Fuller wholesale drugs and later ran a color broker business. He is survived by his wife four children mother and sister Mrs J Foster Gray and other family. Funeral arrangements will be in Chicago.

Young filling station bandits elude capture
Two young men who robbed a filling station on the Washington Winchester pike and kidnapped the attendant, Coffelt, escaped in a stolen 1929 Buick coach. Officers Describe Vestris Sinking Plight At Sea
Federal Building New York Nov 17 The two senior survivors of the steamer Vestris testified about the hours before the ship sank off the Virginia Capes with heavy loss of life. First Officer Frank Johnson and Chief Engineer James Adams spoke of water pouring through loose ports and cargo breaking bulk heads as the ship keeled over. Johnson said he warned the captain but did not know why the boats were not launched. Adams recounted reporting that he could keep the ship afloat hours earlier. Six boats were recovered. questions of SOS messages and boat deployment were raised as the inquiry adjourned. Mrs Stuart and daughters, returning from Baltimore, were named in a brief society note.
