Former Manchurian ruler Henry Pu Yi, under Japanese guard, reportedly travels toward Mukden to head a new government. He had been a virtual prisoner in Tientsin since 1924.
A Chinese and Korean force reportedly struck Japanese troops near the Namni river, driving them back and seizing several airplanes. Reports say Chinese cavalry surrounded Japanese positions at Namni, jeopardizing lines of communication as reinforcements are held in readiness. Pu Yi, the deposed emperor, is said to be en route to Manchuria under Japanese guard to head a pro Japanese government in Mukden.
Democrats weighed Governor Ritchie's New York visit as a possible stop Roosevelt movement. Senator Wheeler and Alfred E. Smith pushed a stop Roosevelt line while Glass urged Harry Byrd as a southern alternative. Observers noted talk of Newton Baker and Cox as potential nominees without mention of Roosevelt.
Alexander R. Breckenridge a longtime Winchester figure and Democrat suffered a stroke at his niece’s home after leaving a Knights Templar gathering at Winchester Commandery No 12. He was taken to the Fansler residence on South Stewart Street and remains gravely ill with vocal paralysis noted.
Since 1924 a poor Chinese escape from legation quarters in a third class railway carriage prompts a Japanese official to call the flight report premature. He hints the foreign minister may leave soon as monarchist movements last night caused genuine suspicion he left about 10 p. m.
The Baltimore and Ohio announces Train No 54 will not be discontinued on November 15 and will maintain its schedule while the post office arranges new methods for handling the mail. A Friday meeting at the Winchester Chamber of Commerce will discuss rail, postal and local cooperation. A Martinsburg Junction report notes a star route planned between Martinsburg and Winchester with mail transfers by motor trucks, improving morning dispatch and benefiting way stations along the route.
An abundance of parking has been arranged for Palace Theatre patrons. The entry is on South Braddock Street between Boscawen and Cork. A well lit path leads from the rear parking area to the front, with easy access for travelers turning from Braddock.
In San Francisco a district court of appeals affirmed a $3,500 auto damage verdict against seaman George Brown after a collision while Brown drove Admiral Thomas Washington’s navy car returning to Mare Island. The court ruled there was no master servant relation between Brown and the admiral, who was cleared of liability.
The First Baptist Church hosts the Mount Vernon Place Methodist Church choir from Washington DC for a 7 30 pm concert at Winchester. Under R Deane Shure the six eight member ensemble performs a program chosen by Mount Vernon members with light supper at 6 15 pm and no admission charge.
Winchester and Frederick county officers join in a search for Edna Mae Ebersole 16 daughter of Harry M Ebersole of Frederick county. She disappeared November 3 after being seen on Senseney Road. A marriage license was issued October 23 to Edna Mae and James P Baecher but was never returned or used. Chief C W Hollis says police have no traces or clues at this time.
The Underwood Typewriter Co announces its territory head quarters are now in Winchester to improve service. J. N. Bagwell serves as representative with phone 1053 for sales and service.
Public sale of household and kitchen furniture to be held in front of the Court House on November 14 at 1 PM. Conducted by A J Wigginton.
Frederick County Advisory Board for home demonstration met at the Court House with most groups represented. 240 women attended demonstrations on home gardening foods clothing and furnishings. 110 joined the garden campaign 86 completed it. 31 709 quarts canned for winter use plus stored foods. Red Cross canning 204 quarts. A food sale cleared 318 53. A county demonstration garden and booths at Winchester Fair featured foods. Delegates attended the State Homemakers Association in Blacksburg and expenses were paid.

John T. Ramey of Marshall a prominent layman of the Protestant Episcopal Church in Virginia will address Christ Church at 11 o'clock Sunday morning on the fall campaign. The rector Robert B. Nelson announced the event and invited all to attend.

In Berryville Clarke County on November 13 Mrs. Leslie Russell led a Golden Rule Circle meeting. They reported $88.69 in funds, planned a November 25 country store for Thanksgiving, and outlined soliciting duties. Donations to clothing and Red Cross efforts were acknowledged. Kate Powers reported on the Orange state convention and pledged support to Sheltering Arms Hospital and a fresh air camp.
Five armed bandits robbed Citizens National Bank in Rahway New Jersey taking an $82,000 payroll for Gibbs and Hills Inc. They threatened about a dozen customers and clerks, fled in a black sedan after snatching a registered mail pouch from paymaster J. H. Farrell, with the armored car guard departing to continue payroll deliveries.
The funeral of the late G Washington Miller was held after his death on Monday at the home of his son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Robert Lynn on the Gainesboro road. Rev Cephas Fahnestock assisted by Rev L R Dettra and Rev David Messick conducted services. A large gathering attended then the body was brought to Winchester and interred in Mount Hebron Cemetery beside his wife. Pallbearers included four grandsons Perry John and Robert Miller and G Miller Lynn one great grandson Millard Luttrell and a nephew George Miller.
Winchester Memorial Hospital offers for sale first mortgage bonds on the hospital plant and contents at 6 percent interest, payable semi annually. Denominations include $500 and $1000. Frederick county announces hunting season rules for 1932. General season begins at sunrise November 16 for all game except deer. Daily limits include four turkeys and 150 quail. season totals 20 ruffed grouse, 150 rabbits, 150 quail. Waterfowl season runs noon November 16 to sunset December 15. Steel traps allowed November 15 to January 31. muskrats Dec 15 to March 31. Big Survey on Great North Mountain is a sanctuary with fines starting at 25 dollars. Dog and license requirements enforced. licenses sold by county clerks.
In Pontiac Michigan on November 13 vigilantes flogged at least three men suspected of being communist sympathizers. One victim recalled hearing a woman's screams before she disappeared. Police said the beatings likely followed an unemployment protest in which over twenty four people were arrested. Walter Hardin Clarence Sherman and Leo Fortin returned home bearing marks. Sherman claimed his attackers were police, a claim police denied.

Berryville Virginia officials announce Berryville Elementary will reopen Monday after a short closure due to scarlet fever. Health officials report only two mild cases last week and prompt steps include certificates of fitness for absentees, new toilets under construction, and a program to supervise students from distant homes with Miss Mildred Forster hosting first and second graders in the afternoon.
W. W. Dunn asks The Star to state that divorce has not been granted to his wife Mrs. Rebecca Hall Dunn as alleged. He says depositions are yet to be heard in the matter.
Due to the absence of most of the county, the public meeting of the county ministers union scheduled for next Monday evening has been called off. It was to be held in the Presbyterian church at Vaucluse.
The first rehearsal for the benefit Minstrel and Musical Show for Winchester Post Veterans in Wars is called for 8 o clock tonight at the George Washington Hotel. Committee urges all helpers to attend as preparations continue for the December 1 Colonial Theatre performance.
