Baltimore November 12 the jury in the trial of Jane Hill in the United States Court for alleged violation of prohibition law faced a charge by Judge Morris A Soper to ignore expert definitions of intoxication. Dr Harvey A Wiley and Dr Howard Ay Kelly testified that cider with 7 20 per cent alcohol and wine with 11 64 per cent were intoxicating. The defense demanded the burden of proof shift to the government to show intoxication. The judge denied the request and the defendant, Hill, was charged with maintaining a place for illegal liquor at his home.
