The Rev. Dr. Jefferson W. Duffey longtime Winchester minister and Civil War veteran died Saturday at his home in Washington D C at age 88 Burial is planned for Arlington National Cemetery He served in McNeill's Rangers and helped capture Generals Crook and Kelly.

New Detours On State Roads Are Announced
The Virginia state highway department announces several new detours due to ongoing fall construction. Detours include U S route 11 south of Staunton using Middlebrook turnpike until mid December, Virginia route 809 from Waynesboro to avoid Staunton, Virginia route 17 between Goshen and Milboro via Millboro, and a wet weather detour near the Shenandoah river bridge on Route 50 between Winchester and Middleburg. Detours are not on the latest November map.

Reymann Memorial Farms of Wardensville West Virginia announces the sale of a carload of Ayrshire cows to the Borden Milk Company for shipment to Springfield Ohio. The top price paid is $1000 for Leto's Favorite Betty of Hill Top a four year old cow expected to set a world record. Betty has produced 1300 pounds of milk and 528 pounds of fat in seven months and will remain at Memorial Farms until testing is completed.

The overall average price for all females was 180.66 dollars, while the top cow Pegis Nora from Kentwood Farm sold for 205 dollars to the highest bidder. Nora was bred and consigned by W. W. Sanford of Orange, with subsequent high cows sold by Fred A. Spicer of Washington and Orange, W. L. Bradley of Orange, Dr. J. S. Andrews of Orange, and Roper Raines of Bowling Green Virginia.

James Taylor Miller aged 66 a member of a leading Rappahannock County family died by his own actions at the home of his sister in law near Flint Hill. He had been in poor health and despondent. He leaves two sisters Mrs. F B Carter of Washington VA and Mrs Payton Anderson of Amissville VA. Funeral services were held at his late residence this afternoon at 2 o clock conducted by the Baptist Church pastor from Flint Hill.
