Shenandoah Valley Amateur Radio Club will again assist The Star by manning mobil units to gather election returns on Tuesday. Seven precincts in Frederick County Lamp's Russell's Ashton's Bakers Mill Dolan's Gainesboro Yeakley's covered to speed tabulation. Members use precinct sheets, report to a Winchester base station, and The Star staff will tabulate county results.

Sharper Drop In Virginia Liquor Sales
The State Alcoholic Beverage Control Board reported a sharper drop in liquor sales last month after a July 10 percent tax. Last month 3,668,266 bottles were sold, down from 4,195,678 in October 1959, with sales totaling 9,923,940 dollars, over 5 percent below the prior year. Net revenues after tax fell nearly 14 percent year over year.

Hollywood AP Mack Sennett 76 creator of Keystone comedies and producer of Chaplin and Fields died at the Motion Picture Country House and Hospital in Woodland Hills after long illness and major kidney surgery. Born Michael Sinnett in Denville Quebec he helped shape silent film slapstick and burlesque and mentored stars across studios.

Recording Star Johnny Horton Killed in Crash
Recording star Johnny Horton age 35 died in a two car head on collision on a railroad overpass in Milano Texas. Manager Franks and Gerald Tumlinson were injured as was the other driver James Evans Davis 19 of Brady Texas. Horton formerly starred on Louisiana Hayride and rose to fame with The Battle of New Orleans. He was married to Billie Jean widow of Hank Williams. Senior officials said none of the injured were in serious condition. The body was taken to Marek Burns Funeral Home in Cameron.

American killed in Red Ambush near Saigon
An American adviser to the U.S. aid mission and his Vietnamese driver were killed in an ambush by Communist guerrillas about 76 miles southeast of Saigon. The Jeep was set ablaze and one of the discoverers fired at a fleeing attacker, who disappeared into the jungle. This marked the first attack on a U.S. official in some time.
