199 Die During Memorial Day Holiday Weekend
Across the nation the Memorial Day weekend death toll reached at least 199 with two fatal airplane crashes in New York and Port Deposit Maryland accounting for over half. Highway crashes and drownings added dozens more with Indiana reporting ten fatalities including a wedding party tragedy in Lake County. Gainesboro high school edged Stephens City 3-2 in a Frederick Clarke Baseball League game. Baker and Richard pitched well as Gainesboro opened scoring, Stephens City tied twice, and a late error by Ramey enabled the visitors to win.
