Frederick Hable Dies After Long Illness in Winchester
Frederick Hable prominent in theater vaudeville and motion pictures died at his home 209 East Boscawen Street Winchester after a long illness. He survived a 1926 Florida railroad wreck and left a legacy as a ticket broker and theater lessee. Burial in Baltimore follows service at Belair Road cemetery.

Brill faces liquor possession trial in home case
Calvin Brill an engineer on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad is tried in Harrisonburg for illegal possession of about four gallons of liquor found hidden beneath a floor. Mrs Lillie Pitcock claims ownership and both received 60 day jail terms and fines after an earlier Police Court conviction. Brill appeals saying he did not own or know of the liquor and sub rented the house. Pitcock testified ownership and that she paid $3.25 per gallon, saying the liquor was for her own use.

In Chinandega Nicaragua on May 27 Captain William P. Richards of the U S Marine Corps shot and killed liberal General Cabulla in what authorities say was self defense. Cabulla was reportedly intoxicated and firing a revolver at bystanders when Richards returned fire.

Last Rites Held In Capital For Capt Cobaugh
Captain Harry Cobaugh 84 died of uraemic poisoning after a week illness at his Washington home. Funeral held in Arlington Cemetery. Native of Newville Pennsylvania he served long in the U S Army and was captain of the watch at the Treasury department after retirement. Survived by daughters Mrs Samuel Porter House Winchester and Florida and Mrs Jack Hunt Washington. Wife interred at Arlington.

A morning fire damaged a Stephens City restaurant owned by Clarence Lemley. Firefighters were not summoned as William Venable and Revenue Commissioner Isaiah Roe discovered the blaze between weatherboarding and the interior wall and extinguished it after removing the interior wall covering.

Second Accident Shocks Glen Alden Coal Mine
In Kingston Woodward mine No 3 shaft, a second explosion followed a gigantic squeeze that trapped five men yesterday. Forty five workers narrowly escaped death as rescue teams had just left the site. Two bodies were recovered and seven men were believed killed with many injured.

Child Struck By Car In Front Of Home Fractures Both Thighs
Five year old Hazel Thomas, daughter of William O. Thomas, was struck by a Hudson coach driven by John Lillis on South Kent street near her home. She sustained fractures of both thigh bones, a scalp wound, and possible internal injuries. Lillis claims he veered to miss the child as she moved backward toward the sidewalk. he stopped the car and called at police headquarters. A warrant is expected for reckless driving to determine liability.

One Killed and Five Hurt in Meat Cleaver Attack
In Tampa Florida Buddy Merrill 33 was killed and five family members seriously injured by an unidentified assailant who entered the home last night with a meat cleaver. Three others escaped. Hugh 8 slept under a bed Kenneth 16 with relatives and Gilbert 18 worked in St Petersburg. Hugh found his father's body beside the bed as bloodhounds and officers pursued the attacker. Colored Prisoner Falls Into Mania Awaiting Trial
Sheriff Pannett returned from Petersburg Virginia where he escorted George Jones to the colored asylum for the criminal insane. Jones had been in jail awaiting trial for robbing Thomas Sawyer's garage at Gore when he suddenly became insane several nights ago. He was committed to the Petersburg institution by Judge Williams after doctors testified to acute mania.
