Civil Aeronautics Board said an explosion of unknown origin occurred inside a Continental Airlines jetliner, causing it to break up in flight. The Boeing 707 on a Chicago to Los Angeles route crashed near Unionville Missouri, killing 45. Debris was found up to 150 miles away. inspectors sent cabin and fuselage samples to Washington for analysis.

Recreational Building Plan Discussed By Council
Plans for a $120 000 recreational building adjacent to the War Memorial Building will be reviewed by the Recreation Council at a special meeting Monday at 7 30 p m in the War Memorial Building. The steel and brick structure would seat 3000 in an auditorium gymnasium and provide basketball and volleyball courts with future expansion for craft rooms and other facilities funded by public subscription.

Stonewall Jackson reenactment marches with cavalry aid
About 60 marchers reenacted Jackson's 1862 march from Middletown to Winchester on Valley Pike, joined by the Henry Kyd Douglas cavalry brigade under Capt. Morgan Webber. Local units led by Co. K, 5th Va. Inf. and a National Guard jeep opened and closed the column as townspeople at Stephens City welcomed them with coffee and a benediction.
