President Coolidge signed the immigration bill after weighing the measure as a whole. The veto was not used despite opposition to Japanese exclusion, to avoid emergency provisions and amendments during a crowded session. In Tokyo, ten thousand reservists demonstrated loyalty to the homeland and urged nationwide unity.
The Near East Relief committee in Winchester organizes a bundle day with automobiles to collect clothing, shoes and wearables from homes. Residents are asked to place securely wrapped bundles at their curb early tomorrow for orphans and other homeless people in need.
Harry Ritter, after about two years as a patient at Catawba Sanitorium, arrived with his mother Mrs. Adelaide Hamilton Ritter and joined her at East Piccadilly street. He reports strength and good health after tuberculosis treatment and friends are pleased to see him home.
Capt. Robert L. Christian of the United States Army stationed in Winchester has been chosen as an instructor for a four day preliminary encampment at Virginia Beach from June 9 to 12. The event will train officers and selected enlisted men of the Virginia National Guard.
Handley High School baseball beat Alexandria 10 to 8 in a Saturday afternoon game at the ball park. Hockman pitched well for Handley and Sargent had strong catching despite split fingers. Handley will likely play another game in the Virginia League for the state title. next they face Shenandoah Valley Academy in what may be the final meeting of the season.

G. members.

Levi G Miller 88, a prominent Frederick county farmer and progenitor of many descendants, died at his Opequon home after six weeks illness. He leaves 86 direct descendants, seven children, 30 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was born in Cumberland County Pennsylvania and moved to Virginia in 1871. Funeral is Wednesday at St Pauls Church near Opequon with services at 10:30 conducted by Rev E O Graham. Burial in nearby cemetery.
Lieut.-Col. B M Roszel superintendent of Shenandoah Valley Academy will discuss the European political situation with Fort Loudoun Seminary students in the study hall at 3 o clock tomorrow afternoon. The talk opens the Fort Loudoun finals and was announced today due to scheduling.
A mass convention of Democratic voters will meet at the Winchester courthouse on Saturday May 31 at 2 p.m. to select delegates for the Democratic State Convention in Norfolk on June 11. All Democrats urged to attend. Chairman Do R McCann.
Frank H. Keck and Miss Maude G. Horn, both of Carlyle Springs, Pa., were married this morning at the Presbyterian manse on North Braddock Street by Rev. Dr. F. T. McFaden. The couple arrived early, secured their license, and proceeded to the ceremony.
A letter from Baltimore reports Dr. J. L. Whitlock, now recovering at Union Memorial Hospital, is expected to have surgery on Thursday after doctors regained his strength and prepared for the procedure.

Kentuckian Midnight, a black three year old by Hourless from Belmont's Lexington nursery, won the road back handicap and hunters four years and under. Harpers Ferry West Virginia May 26 work started on renewing the Maryland Highway bridge washed away by the recent flood. The Potomac crossing links Maryland and West Virginia highways. Officials expect traffic in about 15 to 20 days.
United States Senator Carter Glass has complied with Virginia primary rules to seek the Democratic nomination for the term starting March 4, 1925. The candidacy, announced by Democratic State Chairman H. F. Byrd, faces the August 5 primary with no opposition expected and Glass aiming to succeed himself.

In Fort Myers Florida two Black youths about 20 years old identified as the attackers of two white girls were killed by mobs. Bubbers Wilson was shot after custody, Wilton Williams was pulled from a train. both were riddled with bullets and dragged through streets. The girls remain in serious condition.
