Transfer Of Oil Royalty Brought Out In Tax Trial
The trial of three men, including Atty. Harry I. Schwimmer, featured evidence he sent an oil royalty transfer to T. Lamar Caudle and forwarded royalty checks to Matthew J. Connelly. Caudle, former head of the Justice Department Tax Division, and Connelly, ex White House appointments secretary, are accused of conspiring to defraud the government in the Sachs case. A letter dated Aug 4 1950 and forwarded checks were admitted over objections, with Caudle stating Sachs should not face prosecution due to health.
