Cold Canadian air cools Midwest after heat wave
The Associated Press reports a brief end to summerlike weather in the Midwest as cool Canadian air sweeps into the plains and Great Lakes regions. Showers and severe storms follow the temperature drop with rapid swings in several areas. Chicago cooled from 92 degrees after a brief shower.

Weather swings bring sharp cold, storms hit several regions
Temperatures fell 35 degrees in eight hours to a morning low of 48 as showers and storms moved east from Wyoming to Illinois and Ohio. Hail as large as golf balls pelted Springfield, Illinois, while another wet belt affected from North Carolina to near New York City. An electrical storm damaged Rochester, New York, with losses around 50 000 dollars. The Jordan River runs 200 miles to cover 65 miles between the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea.
