Six U S B52 bombers attacked North Vietnamese positions near Dong Ap Bia mountain, as paratroopers struggle to seize the area for over a week. The Sunday assault left twelve Americans dead and 79 wounded, with SAC joining after earlier setbacks.
Krist, 24, a convicted thief and escapee, goes on trial in DeKalb County for the Dec 17 abduction of Emory coed Ruth Eisenmann-Schier and the Feb ransom demand. Miss Mackle, buried alive for 83 hours after a Dec ransom, is central to the charges. FBI and court actions follow the Arkansas-like case details.
A seven year old boy in good condition at Winchester Memorial Hospital was among six hurt in weekend crashes. Wesley Clark of Gainesboro suffered facial lacerations while Eugene Edward Clark 42 also had a forehead cut in a Route 522 passing collision. Both were treated and released after transport by Winchester Volunteer Rescue Squad.

In Cape Town Philip Blaiberg the long time heart transplant recipient is described by a hospital spokesman as somewhat improved after admission Friday with exhaustion breathlessness and back pains. Doctors say there is a possibility his body is rejecting the heart he received on January 2 1968.
On the Dong AP Bia hill near Laos 101st Airborne troops under Lt. Col. Weldon Honeycutt suffered heavy losses. Ten killed and about 180 wounded as assault attempts continued despite extensive shelling and air strikes. The mountain, believed to host a North Vietnamese regimental HQ, is opposed by two to three companies and battalions reinforcements with a grim view from veterans.
