Umpire Charges Fan Struck Him Trial Postponed
The assault and battery case against William R. Baker of Cross Junction was postponed from yesterday to Friday May 24 before Trial Justice Harry K. Benham after Justice Edwards disqualified himself due to a family connection. The incident followed a Friday Gainesboro versus Berryville baseball game where Fray, who was the umpire, was struck. Baker’s son pitched for Gainesboro, which lost the game.

Three youths admit tire deflation prank in Oshkosh
In Oshkosh Wisconsin on May 16 three boys confessed to police they deflated tires on several parked cars. Under supervision of Officer Walter Loponov the youths used hand pumps to reinflate the tires to normal pressure.
