Mrs Whitham, soloist with the Loudoun Street Presbyterian Church choir, will perform at the Open Door Bible Class on Sunday morning. She will be accompanied at the piano by Miss Virginia Cover Russell and is expected to sing around 10 30 o clock following Prof R Lee Stickel's Sunday School address. Visitors and newcomers are welcome.
Gus Haines, a popular Winchester letter carrier, found and imprisoned a black widow spider in a rose bush at his Valley Avenue home yesterday. He said he sprayed the roses and found the specimen, noting there were probably a dozen others nearby.
A red hourglass marking on the abdomen identifies the black widow. Some say a bite leaves victims with only an hour to live, making the spider infamous for danger.
Memorial Day services are planned at Ebenezer Church of Christ near Gore on June 14 under Pastor Rev. 8 J Ode. The program will include special music and invited speakers, with dinner served at noon in the church basement. Members are asked to help clean the grounds on May 26 for the event.
