County Man Drove His Auto While Drunk

Harry Robinson of Stephens City, in the county, was jailed in Winchester just before midnight by Chief T. E. Jackson on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of home made wine. Earlier, Dan Jenkins and William Mauck were arrested for disorderly conduct and released to await trial. Magistrate Stickley’s death left Stephens City without a proper jail or magistrate, so prisoners are brought to Winchester. Justice Tavener presided, found Robinson guilty, and sentenced him to three months in jail plus a $69.25 fine. Robinson was the first prisoner brought to the jail under Chief Jackson’s tenure. The sheriff’s mishap during processing sparked a brief commotion before the correct prisoner was secured.
