William Edward Smith prominent Frederick County farmer and former county supervisor died near Gore after suffering a paralytic stroke while cutting wood. A Democrat and longtime Electoral Board member, he was 64 and had recent strokes amid ill health. He lived in the Gore area, educated at a private school and the old Normal College in Middletown.

Funeral Rites For Fire Victims Tomorrow
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 30 for three children who perished in a house fire at the Mills home on South Cameron and East Gerrard streets. Ruth Grim 14 of East Pall Mall will be buried at Church of the Disciples of Christ West Cork street. Leon Lee Mills and Nancy Lee Mills will be buried from Parlett Funeral Home North Braddock street in a Martinsburg W Va led rite. Interment will follow in the family lot at Mount Hebron Cemetery. The children died after burns from a gasoline fire that broke out when a pail overturned and flames swept the Mills residence.
