Norfolk Pastor Accepts Call of Presby terians
The Rev. E. B. McGukin of Norfolk Va has accepted the Loudoun Street Presbyterian Church call to be its pastor. He will assume duties in Winchester on Easter Sunday April 1. He succeeds the late Dr Frank McFaden who served ten years and died after an angina attack in August. The call was unanimous and came after weeks of preaching by invited ministers and committee study.

Lumber Code Meeting Set for April 9 in Virginia
Arrangements are under way for a lumber code meeting at the George Washington Hotel on April 9. Similar sessions will be held in Harrisonburg on March 19 Moorefield West Virginia March 26 and Keyser West Virginia April 2. George C Delaney of the Hard Wood Manufacturers Institute will lead the meetings. About 1560 mills operate in Virginia with over 1200 registered. all mills are bound by the code provisions. The sessions come as Gen Hugh S Johnsons NRA program tightens on wage scale and code violations.

Byrd Expedition Plane Wrecks During Test Flight
Admiral Richard Byrd’s monoplane crash landed 500 yards from Little America camp at 12 30 pm. Lieut- Commander Isaac Schlossbach and three passengers suffered only slight injuries, while the single engine Fokker was wrecked but salvageable parts may be recovered. Death of M Allister Kater at 78 in Winchester
McAllister Kater 78 longtime Frederick County nursery and apple grower died at his home near Handley High School after months of illness. Born 1856 in Paisley Scotland he immigrated with family over a century ago and helped pioneer fruit tree raising in Virginia.
