Financial interests of City and County to hold an important meeting here at 2 p m tomorrow to decide on reopening under the looming holiday deadline. Local officials plan to discuss impacts on services and financial operations amid extended closures.
President Roosevelt aims to push a currency stability measure through Congress tomorrow along with a reorganization program, while the plan to issue federal scripts has been sidetracked.
Roy W Richards of Winchester was captured at Del Ray Beach Florida and held for Virginia authorities on charges of manufacture and possession of liquor. Police say a 500 gallon moonshine still and large liquor stash were found at his home after a January fire. Richards waived extradition and agreed to return for trial. authorities expect him to be brought back by sheriffs once the paperwork is complete.
Bankers of Winchester and Frederick County will meet at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon to decide on reopening local banks after the governor’s four day holiday expires tomorrow. Banks observed the holiday today and kept closed awaiting treasury modification guidance.
Secretary Woodin praised American cooperation during the banking crisis as President Roosevelt plans to ask Congress for wide powers to run the national banking system. He aims to extend the banking holiday, protect the gold supply, and advance a sweeping reorganizational plan to balance the budget and restore credit.

Mrs Minnie Atkinson Pearson of Winchester died at home on National Avenue after a brief illness. Survived by husband Lewis Pearson two daughters Miss Mary and Miss Harriet Pearson sister Mrs Walter Nicklin of Alexandria and cousin Rev E Richardson. Funeral at 2 pm Thursday Braddock Street Methodist Church South with interment Mount Hebron Cemetery.
Robbers led a torch through two vault doors at a Stevensville bank and escaped with 800 after rifling safe deposit boxes. The main safe held 4 000 to 5 000. it was not opened. Local authorities and a Baltimore detective pursuit ensued. Stevensville, Kent Island, Queen Anne's County, Md.

George E Pflaster a prominent Bluemont Loudoun County farmer and stockman was found dead at his home Wide near Bluemont after a severe head wound and an exploded shotgun shell. Notes indicating he was going away prompted authorities to treat it as a self inflicted crisis. He was 57 and survived by his wife Miss Mary of Loudoun. Funeral rites are pending at Ebenezer Cemetery near Bluemont with services at the home of Dr A ee in Purcellville.
James H. Rosenberger aged 62, a prominent farmer from the western Frederick County area, died after several weeks of spinal meningitis. He leaves a widow Bessie Ewan Rosenberger, five sons including Howard of New York City, and eight daughters. Surviving siblings total six sisters and three brothers. Funeral plans were not completed as of this afternoon. He was a first cousin of John W. Rosenberger of this city.
Jeff Branch of Step hens City was seriously injured when he tried to jump aboard a freight train near Cork street crossing. He was knocked unconscious and taken to Winchester Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious internal injuries. The railroad said Branch was not an employee and was attempting to beat a ride on the train.
The Senate Democratic steering committee selected new chairs for all standing committees for the new Congress and assigned banking and finance posts to Senators Fletcher Wierida and Harrison.
Governor Ritchie met with President Roosevelt at the White House to press that any emergency plan protect small solvent state banks. He said federal scrip may be avoided in Maryland, and urged the plan consider small banks not in metropolitan clearing houses to prevent closures and losses to depositors.

A coalition of religious labor agricultural and business leaders met with Rear Admiral Byrd to report governors' response to a March 8 proclamation call. The governors will issue proclamations urging citizens to back the President to stabilize economy restore confidence and relieve unemployment.
The Potomac Edison Company held its annual stockholders meeting at its Frederick Maryland offices. President R Paul Smith presented the operations report for the year ended December 31 1932 and a financial condition statement as of that date. The board of directors was re elected and officers were elected including M F Riley chairman R Paul Smith president Henry Holzapfel Jr vice president G S Humphrey vice president R E Town secretary and treasurer W H Swinney comptroller O E B Martin assistant secretary Paul S Michael assistant secretary and assistant treasurer B A Wine brewer assistant comptroller.
Joseph L. Jolliffe of Clearbrook qualified as administrator of the estate of his late father J John Jolliffe. Bond set at 2000 with J W Jolliffe as co signer. Appraisers named include H P Boyce S W Shewbridge Sheriff H L McCann J William Stipe and W A Scrivenner.

The Winchester Common Council held its regular March session at City Hall with routine business on the agenda. Officials discussed street lighting, budget implications, water supply, quarry liability, and clerk substitution due to illness. The city manager noted water pumping cost at 1.51 per thousand gallons in February 1933, down from 1.94 a year earlier, attributed to improved operations.
Fourteen new members were added to the roll of the South End Hose Company at the regular monthly meeting Monday night. Capt. Frank Foreman presided. Guests from the Chamber of Commerce and the Winchester bar spoke on the economic outlook, with J Sloan Kuykendall and John J Williams delivering remarks. Cyril Mee of Winchester, a hotel and tourist camp manager, forgot his change after mailing letters. He later recalled the coins left on a writing desk and found a stamp clerk holding the money for him. A passerby had handed in the change to the clerk.
