A blaze in Wytheville Virginia destroyed the First National Bank building and many other structures in the heart of the business district. The fire started on Main Street at 4 a.m. and spread rapidly due to high winds, igniting across the street and consuming 36 automobiles in the Sexton building. Sherman Ball Dies in Memorial Hospital
Sherman Ball a colored resident of Boyce Clarke county died yesterday afternoon in Memorial Hospital where he was treated for an infected arm and heart trouble. A 36 year old stonemason, he reportedly injured his arm recently and developed symptoms of blood poisoning affecting his heart. Funeral Director Enders of Berryville took charge of the body and moved it to a morgue for burial in Boyce.
