Czech Government Moves to Tighten Control on Catholic Church
Prague reports a new government push to exert full authority over the church after a circular from Archbishop Beran urged priests to avoid state posts. Cepicka, allied with the regime, calls bishops traitors as the state claims appointment power and priests must swear allegiance to the government. Excommunications follow for accepting church posts without approval.
