Mayor Laguardian laments failed negotiations and orders to call out others. Disappointment over bargaining breakdown leads to continuation of the New York walkout. The blame is aimed at the Realty Owners' group.
About a dozen appeals for national guard or increased police protection have been telegraphed to Governor Herbert H. Lehman by apartment dwellers and real estate owners involved in the New York City building service employees' strike, the governor's office reported.
James J. Bambrick, head of the building workers strike, says he will extend the walkout to three city sections, adding Brooklyn and Queens tomorrow. He notes hotel workers may join and calls for arbitration after negotiations at city hall broke down.

The city starts Kerr street trading and paving, asphalt treatment at a cost of 1500 dollars, with crews then moving to other projects. Weather permitting, asphalt will extend to the Kent Piccadilly intersection where storm sewers were installed. Shawnee avenue sewer work has begun, using a power shovel and will move to Kerr Chestnut and Purcell next.
City Manager Arthur M. Field announced a Central Relief organization meeting is needed to adjust the next year’s expenditures. The relief drive was expected to raise 14 500 dollars but only about 10 000 is in sight, implying a shortfall of roughly 4 500 dollars and drastic aid cuts. Contributions continue from out of town, with the drive’s total not likely to surpass 10 000.
City officials plan to replace two high mileage trucks this year a water department pickup and a 12 ton street department truck. Prices were collected for five models earlier but only two will be bought now with more replacements likely next year as upkeep costs rise.
The Friendship Fire Company will hold its regular monthly meeting at 8 o'clock Thursday evening March 5. All members are urged to attend due to important business on the agenda.

Howard Talks On Farm Youth addresses about 150 farmers and club members at the George Washington Hotel in Winchester. He urges focusing on youth action to improve conditions, noting youth will play a major role in any future economic plan.
Herbert D. Whitacre died at the Sunnyside home of his daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Stotler, after weeks of illness. A last of seven brothers, he helped found the local fruit evaporating business, ran a Whitacre plant, owned a village store, and later worked as a carpenter in Pittsburgh before retiring a decade ago. He laughed at America, admitting he has profited from it but now feels paid back as he tours the Grand Canyon and prepares for a world cruise.
William C. La Salle, a one legged war veteran, won a court order to reclaim his wooden leg kept by his former landlady as security for a $25 unpaid bill. The leg had been sent by the government but salvaged and stored by the landlady until payment.
The city announced the completion of two sheds at the quarry. One shed will store the steam shovel and the other will house the tractor concrete mixer and other equipment.

D W Alexander and D P Layton reached agreement on fault after two cars collided on Route 50 near the airport. Both drivers sustained minor cuts and scratches.
A conference within a day will address enforcing two long dormant ordinances from 1928 and 1931 aimed at eliminating electrical interference with radio reception. Attendees include Chief C W Hollis, E A Crown, Arthur M Field, and city officials. An abstract of the ordinances is published to aid public cooperation.
Renters of lock boxes at the Winchester post office are asked by Postmaster Page to remove all such mail between 8:30 and 9:30 Saturday night as equipment is transferred from the temporary North Kent street office to the new Piccadilly and Braddock streets facility. The regular office lock boxes will remain in place with no number changes, and mail will be distributed Sunday morning. Page says the move will speed work and not inconvenience the public.
Dan M. Chichester of Stafford county, fieldman for the Farm Debt Adjustment Service of the Resettlement Administration, announces a program to help farmers and creditors reach satisfactory debt adjustments. Since 1933 local committees handle cases, with $60,244 in debt reductions achieved in the district and thousands in delinquent taxes now recovered.
London March 5 The British Admiralty investigated two new cases of suspected sabotage aboard Royal Navy warships, bringing total incidents to six in three months. The battle cruiser Repulse and the submarine H 28 were affected, though details of damage were not disclosed.

Delegate Moore and other lawmakers oppose passage as Virginia defeats the administration unemployment insurance bill with 46 ayes to 44 noes. The bill would have conformed to the national social security act but failed to reach the required majority after amendments. The Senate had earlier passed an old pension measure, while Governor Peery urged studies and a tax aligned with federal credit provisions.
