Radiant hot water heats Klamath Falls highway for ice relief

An eight degree slope four lane highway near Klamath Falls Oregon is kept ice free using natural underground hot water. Heat is circulated through 15 000 feet of piping with electric pumps and thermostats while the deep well water remains in the system at about 160 to 190 degrees Fahrenheit. This marks the first highway safety use of the natural heat already employed in homes and buildings.
