Weather optimistic on fruit crop says Winchester expert
Dr. Walter S. Hough of the Winchester Research laboratory reports fruit trees survived the cold snap. He says frost damage will reveal itself in the next three weeks with apples and peaches delayed but possibly on course if March stays cool, while a warm spell could ruin the crop. Temperatures would need to drop near 10 degrees to harm fruit. The Weather Bureau outlook suggests normal conditions over the weekend.
