Stephens City resident W. Boyd Steele received a radio bulletin around 3 PM via WEAF and WJX New York that the Canadian Press reported the mono plane America was about to pass over Newfoundland. Steele has been a regular listener to 15 minute bulletins since early morning and supplied The Star with similar reports.
Mrs Rebecca Byers widow of William H Byers of Shepherdstown West Virginia died Sunday in Washington D C after months of illness she was about 83 and survived by three daughters Sylvia Powers Myrtle Byers and Blanche Byers. Funeral services were held in Washington then burial in Shepherdstown with relatives from the area attending.
