A Richmond woman evangelist reported missing from Los Angeles since May 18 tells of being carried into Mexico by abductors and believed drowned after the incident.
Aimee Semple McPherson is identified in Douglas Arizona as the missing evangelist who escaped captivity in Mexico and reached Agua Prieta before being taken to a hospital. Her mother and editor William S. McCafferty confirmed the identity by scar and details.

Miss Elma Guthrie of the Virginia Woolen Company plants near Chambersburg Pa. killed a four foot rattler with thirteen rattles and a button after warning rattles were heard while strolling at Caledonia Park. She restrained the snake with sticks, then finished it with a rock. The event drew a crowd and a scouting party searched for more snakes.

Staunton residents plan to present Captain J N McFarland as proof there is another surviving commissioned officer from the Stonewall Brigade. McFarland served in the Fifth Virginia Regiment with George W Kurtz and was prisoner at Fort Delaware. He later became Augusta county treasurer and a deputy after his son Wallace B McFarland succeeded him.
Funeral services for Harry C A Funk will be at 2 30 p m Friday at the family residence on South Loudoun Street conducted by Rev Dr Mitchell. Madison Lodge Odd Fellows will oversee graveside rites at Mount Hebron Cemetery. Pallbearers named. Funk was a member of Fairfax Council Royal Arcanum and other societies.
