Handley Fund to finance roof repair and parking lot

Carper Charged in Shenandoah Strike

Julian F. Carper Middletown president of the Virginia State AFL CIO was arrested in Shenandoah Virginia and charged with illegal picketing and resisting arrest. He was released on 500 dollar bond and will be tried July 1 in Page County Court. The incident marks the third illegal picketing arrest tied to the Alliance Manufacturing Co strike. Nine youths including six University of Virginia students were arrested the previous Saturday.
