New Security League Shapes Charter For United Nations
Delegates prepared a charter shaped by new Security League debates. The president will arrive Monday for signing and stay about 24 hours, then return via Independence Missouri with the charter for Senate fast approval. The charter includes international trusteeships and standards for colonial governments. Brig. Gen. Romulo hailed the charter as a charter of human liberty. Commander Stassen called it an open door to millions, urging nations to implement its principles. Lord Cranborne noted it may lead to independence through natural evolution where appropriate. Egypt objected to France's permanent Big Five seat, abstaining along with Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Lebanon.
