Conference leaders push toward final decisions on General Assembly debate limits and security council veto procedures as President Truman plans to meet in Berlin. Russia seeks tighter debate limits while Spain’s Franco is discussed for future membership.
MA WENCHESTER notes a refreshed appearance in The Star after rest and vacation. She comments on rainy weather delaying farm work, upcoming weeds, and the effort to protect corn. She recalls buying a War Bond at a civic booth and cautions about pedestrians and cyclists sharing crowded streets.
President Truman and the War Labor Board pressed thousands of idle workers to restart vital wartime production. More than 20 000 employees faced directives across regions while 18 000 glass workers in four states threatened to strike. Army seizure of a plant and resumed operations by truck drivers and bus crews followed efforts to restore normal transport and factory output.
W M Shade manager of the Winchester U S Employment Office reports no postwar cutbacks and ongoing labor demand essential to the war effort. Employers have increased use of women older workers youths and prisoners of war to sustain agriculture and industry amid a manpower shortage. BOMBAy June 20. Mo handas K Gandhi and the new working committee of the Congress began drafting a plan to place Indians in power while removing British authority. They aim to have Indians run all government functions except the Viceroy and troop management. The move follows a June 25 conference called by Lord Wavell.

If the San Francisco talks run late he may adjust his schedule for the Big Three meeting in Berlin and abandon plans to attend Michigan governor meetings. He may address the San Francisco Conference on Saturday if work permits.

Miss Ruth McNeil, Home Demonstration Agent of Frederick County, moves to Buchanan County Virginia to begin new duties July 12. Mrs. Madeline Blair Myers, former Frederick County agent, will assume Frederick responsibilities as Miss McNeil departs. The two will collaborate during early July before the transfer.

In Japan, 450 Super-Porta bombed three secondary cities with 777,000 population, while Shizuoka munitions center was eliminated as a military target. Australian forces near Seria oil fields in Borneo. In the Philippines, three Yank columns advance through Cagayan valley and Naguillan is liberated, Kiangan threatened. Mindanao isolation continues. China reports troops near Tinchow hub. Burma sees clashes near Taikkyi and Pegu Yomas as Indian forces engage.
Ferruccio Parri became Italy's new premier, declaring he is "an ordinary man." He named his cabinet with Socialists, Liberals, and Christian Democrats each receiving four posts, while the Actionists and others took key slots including interior minister.
