Hauptmann appeal charges trial bias and misused theories
The defense argues the state used varying theories on Lindbergh baby death and that Wilentz's summation was inflammatory. It contends the trial should have been in Mercer County and that key testimonies and courtroom conduct violated Hauptmann's rights. The state counters with strong evidence of guilt and a proper, temperate summation.
