Night club cafeteria in New York proves wildly popular
Richard M. Decker opened The Fiesta Danceteria in November offering self service dinners at sixty five cents with music from three orchestras. It draws about 1 million guests, with weekday checks averaging 75 cents and weekend meals higher, no hard liquor, and a policy of welcoming dancing women and crowds with no bouncers. Decker, a Hungarian immigrant, built a restaurant and catering empire before the Danceteria success.
