Judge James Hay Laid To Rest In Madison County
The funeral of Judge James Hay retired member of the United States Court of Claims and former congressman from Virginia's Seventh District was held at his Madison home. Interment followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Dr Hampmond officiating. Surviving are his widow Eloise Cave, four children and nine grandchildren. Hay served as commonwealth's attorney, Virginia state senator, Democratic national committee member, and U S congressman from 1897 to 1916 before joining the Court of Claims in 1916 until 1927.
