Boy Scout Tragedy Kills 12 In Utah Desert Crash
A truck carrying 46 persons overturned near Hole in the Rock Utah. Nine Boy Scouts two leaders and a Deseret News reporter were killed Fifteen were hospitalized with at least two in critical condition. Stormy Weather Pounds Midwestern to Atlantic Regions
The Associated Press reports a broad storm pounded the nation as cool Canadian air moved east from the Plains toward the Atlantic Coast. Violent winds rain hail and a few tornadoes caused widespread damage across Indiana Ohio Michigan and Illinois with at least two deaths and several injuries. Severe thunderstorms formed along a cold front from lower Michigan to western Kentucky and Texas. Cooler air followed the front dropping temperatures to the 40s and 30s from New England to the Great Lakes and North Dakota. Light snow mixed with rain fell in the Lake Superior district with rain elsewhere and Ely Nevada set a 1.44 inch 24 hour precipitation record for the season.
