Elizabeth Ann Melester and David Booth Holliday won $4,000 in scholarships from Handley Commencement last night. Holliday received the first Quota Club scholarship worth $1,000 a year for four years, presented by Mrs. B Garner Edmonds, club president. Holliday is the son of Mrs. D. C. Holliday of 337 Virginia Ave.

Byrd Visitors Center to Be Dedicated

Arson Suspected In Frederick County Home Fire
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office investigates a fire that destroyed Carl Moreland’s home on Newlin’s Hill seven miles west of Winchester off Route 50. Firefighters arrived to a fully involved house. the family including children lost everything. Round Hill Fire Company sent two trucks and battled the blaze about two hours.
