Twenty five men were summoned to report for possible National Army training at Camp Lee. Fifteen will be chosen to depart Wednesday June 18 by 1 47 PM via Baltimore and Ohio Railroad to reach camp that night. Several listed cannot attend due to farm work or government service.
Secretary of State Lansing told Union College students in Schenectady that peace must come only with Prussianism's surrender and condemned German proposals as unacceptable. The White House echoed that no German offer short of total surrender would be entertained.
Nearly one thousand John Kerr School pupils marched to Mount Hebron Cemetery to decorate founder John Kerr’s grave with flowers. They sang Onward Christian Soldiers and America, offered prayers, and held brief exercises. The event is an annual observance preceding tonight’s graduation at the Empire theater.

Announcement of Miss Julia Curtis Correll of Philippi West Virginia to wed Garland Hurst Moore of Charles Town West Virginia next July. The engagement was shared at a bridge party hosted by Miss Neva Virginia Switzer. Correll's parents are Harry Newton Correll and wife, formerly of Winchester, now Philippi. Moore is the son of Robert Moore of Charles Town and is connected with the Department of ??? in Mantinebure.
Memorial Hospital mourns Clarence Robert Moulden eight son of Mrs Moulden and the late Charles Kemper of Brucetown Typhoid claimed both father and son within five weeks The boy who cared for his father later fell ill and died Saturday in Brucetown Methodist Church Cemetery burial followed at the local cemetery He is survived by his mother four sisters Rena Pearl Grace Ruth Price and brothers Charles and Howard Moulden.

Two young boys about ten or eleven were found lying drunk near the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad tracks south of town. Policemen Doran and Neville arrested them and hauled them to headquarters in an automobile. The boys, in a stupor, said they had found the editor they drank with nearby.
